Despite the rampant euro scepticism that has dominated European politics, I for one, call myself a European citizen. And when I say Europe I do not mean white Christian Europe. I mean an all-inclusive, secular, tolerant Europe. That's the Europe we must preserve.

I wonder why it is that passports have different colours. Racism has always been about the colour of the skin. I am beginning to have the impression that it has now moved to a system where people are segregated based on the colour of their passport.

I start to think I should look at my time here in this tiny Iraqi village as watching a film – this bizarrely real, yet dreamlike, hilarious and Kafkaesque experience.
